MeCard × Microsoft Entra ID
Multiple profiles & attributes
Map approved Microsoft employee details to different business roles, markets and language cards.
One employee, multiple digital profiles
A person has one Microsoft Entra account. Their MeCard allowance can include different cards for different markets, business roles and languages.
Security Group
Controls whether the employee is eligible for MeCard.
MeCard role/profile group
Controls which market, business role, source language and translated cards receive approved values.
Example: six cards
| Market | Language | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Malaysia | English | Source card for Malaysia role |
| Malaysia | Simplified Chinese | Translated card retained for review |
| Malaysia | Traditional Chinese | Translated card retained for review |
| China | English | Source card for China role |
| China | Simplified Chinese | Translated card retained for review |
| China | Traditional Chinese | Translated card retained for review |
Six profiles are an example, not a default entitlement. The purchased employee plan determines the allowed number of cards; one source-language card is selected for each business role.
Which Microsoft attributes can update cards?
Microsoft IT must confirm the real source fields available in your tenant. Company Admin chooses the approved fields and destinations.
| Microsoft property | MeCard field |
|---|---|
givenName, surname | First Name, Last Name |
displayName | Display Name |
jobTitle | 职称 |
companyName, department | Company Name, Department (per-card corporate fields) |
mail, businessPhones, mobilePhone | Selected Work Email, Office Telephone, Mobile contacts |
| Office address/location, approved photo | Mapped address, office location or approved profile photo |
Malaysia and China can use different fields
Some companies store different Malaysia and China titles, departments, office numbers and addresses. Do not assume Microsoft has a standard built-in MY/CN property for each of them.
Malaysia role
Use the approved Malaysia source property or the company default where appropriate.
China role
Choose a real, IT-approved China-specific source or supported extension. Missing China values must not silently copy Malaysia values.
Approved Microsoft directory extensions or schema extensions may be used when they exist and have been reviewed by Microsoft IT. Each role’s source-language card receives approved role-specific fields. Translated cards remain under the Company’s translation workflow.
How to configure your profiles
Confirm the source data with IT
Ask IT to identify the exact approved standard or custom Microsoft attributes for each business role/market.
Save company-wide defaults
在 Microsoft → Azure Employees, open Company-wide default fields. Select only the corporate data you want MeCard to manage.
Add optional market/role overrides
Use Optional market-specific sources where the approved field differs, for example Malaysia vs China. Use Advanced Azure Mapping in Employee Sync only for exact individual card/contact destinations.
Assign the profiles
Allocate the purchased cards; set market, business role, language and exactly one source-language card for each role. Review and approve the employee allocation.
Preview and approve field updates
Use Employee Sync to inspect each Before → After change. Confirm the selected card and field ownership before approval. Microsoft-owned fields require ownership transfer for manual editing.
Review translations
Source-language changes do not overwrite Simplified or Traditional Chinese translations automatically. Update translations in MeCard and resolve the translation review when ready.
Do six cards require six Microsoft users?
No. One Microsoft employee can own multiple approved MeCard cards.
Do blank Microsoft fields erase existing data?
No. Missing values preserve existing MeCard details.
